**In an effort to provide the best service possible to the citizens of Sterling, the Sterling Police Department will begin offering additional options for filing police reports while minimizing personal contact during the COVID-19 pandemic. There may be certain offenses or situations in which officers need to respond in person, but most police reports can be filed by phone or our new online tool. I am excited and honored to have the privilege to serve as your Chief of Police for the City of Sterling. I am committed to enhancing the quality of life and making for a better prepared city for our residents, workers and visitors.
I am extremely proud to lead a law enforcement agency comprised of such high valued men and women who are truly dedicated to serving the citizens and visitors of our community. We are driven by our core values and you can expect the highest level of quality and professional services provided by highly trained officers that the Sterling Community deserves. We are dedicated to our vision of the never ending pursuit of excellence.

The Sterling Police Department and its members are an integral part of our community. When you see our officers out in the community, remember they are there for you-enforcing laws, ensuring public safety and responding to those in need.

I believe public safety is a collaborative effort among all members of our community. The police alone cannot control crime and resolve community issues. We continue to enhance our partnerships with those we already have and build collaborations with those we do not. We are committed to making community policing more than just a concept.

As Chief of Police, I understand it is important to implement appropriate policies and procedures to guide our employees. However, I believe it is the people in our organization and the people in our community who make the difference. Our Mission Statement, listed below, clearly shows our focus and priorities.

If we can be of any service to you, please contact us.
Best Regards,

Tyson R. Kerr - Chief of Police
